SMS Terms

Dottie is something you text, so texting is the whole product. Here is what to expect.

The short version

  • Sign-in codes, replies, the reminders you ask for, and a few getting-started tips. No marketing texts.
  • Text STOP at any time to stop, and START to come back. Text stop tips to end just the tips.
  • Message and data rates may apply.

What you’ll get

  • Sign-in codes when you sign in on the web.
  • Replies to what you text Dottie.
  • Things you asked for: reminders you set, a morning briefing (you can turn it off), and alerts about urgent email.
  • Setup messages while you’re getting started, including links to connect Google or pick calendars.
  • Tips in your first weeks: a short text every few days (then weekly) about something Dottie can do that you haven’t tried yet. Only in the late morning or early evening.
  • Heads-ups about your sources, like a school lunch page that stopped updating, so you can fix the link.
  • In a family group chat you add it to: its replies when someone starts with its name, plus a hello the first time and the occasional post the family asked for, like finding a driver.
  • An invite, once, if someone in your family adds you. Nothing more unless you reply or join.

How many messages you get depends on how you use Dottie. Dottie doesn’t send marketing texts.

How to stop

  • Text STOP at any time. Dottie confirms once, then sends nothing until you text START.
  • Text stop tips to end the tips but keep everything else. Text start tips to turn them back on.
  • In a family group chat, say “Dottie, stop” (or send STOP). It stays quiet in that group until someone in your family says START there.
  • Text HELP for help.
