Terms of Service

The deal between you and Dottie, without the legalese. By using Dottie you agree to these terms.

The short version

  • Dottie is a family assistant you text. It uses AI to read your calendars and email and keep track of plans.
  • It can be wrong, so double-check anything that matters: appointments, travel, pickups.
  • Your stuff stays yours. You can pause, disconnect or delete everything at any time.
  • Be kind with it: no spam, no harassment, no poking at other families’ data.

What Dottie is

Dottie is a family assistant you text. It uses your connected calendars and email, and things you tell it, to answer questions, set reminders, and keep track of plans. Dottie uses AI to do this.

Who can use it

  • You must be at least 18 and able to agree to these terms.
  • Use your own phone number, and connect only accounts you’re allowed to use.
  • Invite only people you know. An invite is a text from Dottie on your behalf; don’t use it to message anyone who hasn’t agreed to hear from you.
  • Dottie is for your own household. Add it only to group chats with your family and people who help out, like a grandparent or sitter, and only when the people in the group are okay with it being there. In a group it answers only your family, and shares only what your whole family can see.

Dottie can be wrong

Dottie is helpful, not infallible. It can misread an email, a flyer or a question. Double-check anything that matters — medical appointments, travel, school deadlines, pickups. Dottie always shows you what it’s about to add or change and waits for your yes; you’re responsible for what you approve.

Your stuff stays yours

You own your data. You let Dottie use it only to run the service for you and your family, as described in the Privacy Policy.

Please don’t

  • Use Dottie to harass, spam, or deceive anyone, or for anything illegal.
  • Try to get at another family’s data, or to break, overload or reverse-engineer the service.
  • Try to trick Dottie into doing things for you that you couldn’t do yourself.

Texts

Dottie talks to you over iMessage and SMS. The SMS Terms explain what we send and how to stop it.

Changes, pauses and leaving

  • Dottie is new and will change. If we change these terms in a way that matters, we’ll text you first.
  • You can stop at any time: text STOP, disconnect Google, or delete your account.
  • We may suspend an account that breaks these terms or puts others at risk.

The fine print

Dottie is provided “as is”, without warranties. To the extent the law allows, Dottie isn’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as a missed appointment, arising from using the service. Nothing here limits rights you have under law that can’t be limited.
